Happy Hump Day!

Wednesday. Even the sound of it is deflating, the extra syllable is synonymous with the extra effort it feels like. The start of the week is an uphill climb and thus the term “hump day” was coined; to signify being over the hump on the slope down to the weekend when we could all do with a little pick me up.

But it doesn’t have to be this way! Here are a few ways you can get over the hump of hump day!

Make a plan

The closer to the end of the week it gets, the easier it is to let things slide. You can get around this by planning to get the big tasks you might usually put off out of the way at the beginning of the week. There are always tasks which you will enjoy more, so get the hard slog over with and plan the more enjoyable tasks towards the end of the week.

Have some me-time

A mid-week pick-me-up is exactly what you need to help get over the hump – and you can do this without neglecting your work either. Something as simple as a long lunch or working from outside can do wonders to improve your mood.

Have something to look forward to

Make arrangements for something to look forward to over the weekend. By taking fifteen minutes out of your Wednesday to make a plan for the weekend is a great motivator. Not only does it reinvigorate you, it also makes getting through the week more enjoyable.

Don’t just work, work out!

It’s a well-known fact that exercise release endorphins – the happy hormone! Something high intensity is a great way to get your blood pumping and give you a boost of energy. Or alternatively, try yoga to focus your breathing and clear your mind.

Ditch the negativity

Be more positive about Wednesday – by expecting “hump day” to be a rubbish day, then it will be. Go into the day with a positive attitude, motivate yourself and use the time efficiently.
